Thapathali Campus 

From 2029 B.S. Technical Training Institute (TTI) was renamed as Thapathali Campus under Tribhuvan University (T.U.) and known as Institute of Engineering, Thapathali Campus thereafter. Campus started diploma in mechanical engineering and diploma in automobile engineering 2043 B.S. and later on, diploma in electronics engineering and diploma computer engineering started from 2058 B.S.

According to the policy of Institute of Engineering (IOE), the campus introduced Bachelor in Industrial engineering in 2062 B.S., bachelor in Civil engineering in 2066 B.S., Bachelor in electronics and communication engineering in 2067 B.S., bachelor in mechanical engineering in 2068 B.S., by stopping new intakes in any diploma courses from 2070 B. S. Again, Campus has intake in bachelor in architecture and master in earthquake engineering in 2071 B.S., bachelor in automobile engineering in 2072 B.S. and master in mechanical design & manufacturing in 2073 B.S. also.

Research and Development Activity

• Research and Development (R&D) Unit has been established in 2017 to boost the research activities in this campus.
• Research works in the form of thesis are being carried out by the M.Sc. in Earthquake Engineering Program.
• Project works carried by Bachelors students
• Research and Development unit has been starting to publishing college journals
• Is has planned to conduct one National level and one International level Seminar in this fiscal year.
• To develop teachers’ capabilities, one week long Training of Trainers (TOT) program is completed.
• To develop the Management skills of senior staffs and authorities 2 days management training was conducted to Campus Chief, Asst Campus Chiefs, HoDs, DHoDs, and all officers level staffs.
• Conducted one day Motivational Training to all junior staffs.
• To develop the capability in Computer skills, one month Basic Computer training to all staffs has been planned and it is started for the first group.

1. IT Activity

-        Educational Management Information System (EMIS) Unit is established in 2016 to facilitate Campus for IT management in education as educational management information system.

-        It has maintained internet Wi-Fi access for each computers in office.

-        It has complete library software which controls all library book processing and books and research journals in server system.

-        It is implementing EMIS software in Campus for different activities and communication between all departments.

-        It is planning to establish all software for related departments and interrelating for center data system for all entire college.

Future Plan

This Campus is constructed on 32 ropanis of land, which is not sufficient for an Engineering Campus. We were seeking for land for additional Programs. Now, Nepal Government, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure & Transportation has planned to construct fly over bridge from Maitighar   to Tripureswor above Thapathali campus. So we have to shift to another place.

In this Regard, Campus has demanded land with Tribhuvan University near Ring Road, Balkhu. It has submitted proposal demanding 250 ropani land. It is under process. After the decision of TU, we have plan to develop & construct the infrastructure in Balkhu, TU. as follows :  

1. Preparation master plan, design of 2 academic buildings, estimated cost Twenty eight crores is in process.
2. A research center for mobile engine (focusing on vehicle) is being constructed by KOICA which is under process. Probably that will be approved and will start the construction on 2019.
3. Preparation of proposal to submit different Embassies and Agencies for establishment of vehicle service center and Fuel station of International Standard near Ring Road Balkhu is in process.
4. Compound wall, Water Supply, Sewerage Roads, Electrification work will be side by side in 2018 onwards.
5. Construction of Administrative building on 2019-2020.
6. Construction of laboratories, workshops and other required facilities after getting compensation of land and building of Thapathali from government in 2020-2023.
7. Shifting Civil, Architecture and other some programmers to Balkhu by 2019-2020.
8. Establishing Service center, Fuel station and canteen on 2020-2024.
9. Construction of hostels (Boys-200 & Girls-100 capacity) and Staff Quarter on 2022-2025.
10. Construction of International Guest house (2-3 star hotel level) on 2025-2027.
11. Shifting all programs from Thapathali to Balkhu by 2023.
12. Providing Thapathali land on lease or use for business purpose after shifting all programs.
13. Start Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Hydropower Engineering, & Electrical Engineering Courses in Bachelor level 2019 onwards.
14. Some M.Sc. programs in some special fields felt necessary by faculty members.
15. Strengthen faculty members and staff by regular training and education.
16. Purchasing Lab equipment & workshop machines every year of around two Crore Rupees.
