Introduction
Janakpur Engineering College (JEC) is affiliated to Tribhuvan University (TU), Nepal. Established in 2063 BS, it is producing qualified engineers who are the backbone of development of the nation. The aim of the College is to provide quality engineering education and produce competent engineering graduates. The bachelor of engineering of the Institute of Engineering (IOE), TU being implemented in the College are in Computer, Electronics and Communication, and Civil. The college has been managed by a strong team of professionals and academicians who possess enough experience in educational networks for a long time.
The College is located at Kupandole, Lalitpur which is an easy access from all direction. The college is extended in an area of 15 Ropani with a seven story building. All the academic and administrative programs as per the standard laid down by IOE have been maintained in this infrastructure. As a part of teaching-learning processes, seminars, workshops and trainings are frequently conducted through the semesters with field visit, project works and field works. So, the college assures quality education required for the students in the present context, and assists them in pursuing their professional and educational goals. The BE graduates have shown professionally competence in computer, electronics and communication, civil engineering sector. Even the JEC students have achieved highest scores in IOE semester examinations. The College is proud of all the students who have passed out and have got well-deserved positions in different institutions in the country and abroad as well.
The College has accorded equal priority to extra-curricular activities. Inter college and intra college sport competitions are held every year.

Infrastructure
At present the college has earthquake resistant well managed seven story with 57 no of rooms for academic and administrative purposes in Kupandole, Lalitpur. The newly constructed building has enough class rooms, faculty and administrative rooms, seminar halls, room for libraries, lab block and separate canteen and playground for indoor and outdoor games.
In JEC Lecture and Class rooms are architecturally and aesthetically well designed and are well ventilated. The furniture in the rooms is economically designed for comfort sitting of the students. In addition, whiteboards, to make the teaching-learning process multidimensional. Multimedia projectors are used. Moreover, the faculty adopts not simply the traditional lecture methodology. But also holds group discussion, quiz session, debates and other learner-centered modules. Various other audio-visual aids are also used to enrich the teaching learning processes.
Library of JEC is situated at ground floor in the main block. It has a collection of more than 2,100 books of Nepalese and foreign editions with approx. 400 titles. JEC Library is computerized at functional label. Library is open during College time. Many National and international journal are available for students and teacher mostly categorize by the different subject like civil, computer and electronics. The library is spread over an area of 300 Sq. meters. To give an environment for study library has 2 reading halls with total seating capacity of 200 students.
There are more than 8 spacious computer labs equipped with about 100 computer sets with the latest configurations and the state-of –the-art software. All the computer systems are connected by LAN & 24 hour’s internet connectivity is provided for the benefit of students as well as faculty members. The windows, UNIX and LINUX software packages such as Drawing and Drafting package (AUTOCAD),Multimedia and various editing packages are made available to create simulated environments to suit not only the curricula very well but also to go beyond it.
A favorite haunt of students during off hours is the spacious and well-designed cafeteria with a suitable aesthetic touch. The cafeteria has a modern kitchen with the latest appliances to provide for Nepalese, Indian and Continental cuisine which includes snacks, fruit juice, tea, milk, coffee, Mo: Mo, Chowmin, samosa, Khir, Roti, paratha, Chana, Aloo, Pasta, sandwich, burgers, noodles, curd, lassi etc. The interior is tastefully crafted to provide the much-needed relief and soothing environment.
JEC is fully sensitive to the dictum, ‘Healthy mind healthy body.’ To translate this belief into reality, the College has provided ample opportunities to the students for variety of games & sports. Well-manicured, tastefully laid out and professionally designed playgrounds are available. The campus has vast expanse of land to locate a large number of outdoor and indoor games and sports facilities.
